Maori Language and Pe'e Recitation Classes

National Museum Curator Pastor Ngarima George has been running Maori language classes for advanced learners for the past 6 weeks. Most students are pensioners  and come from French Polynesie and the Cook Islands. He uses the Rarotonga, and Tahiti Bibles to introduce new words and their meanings. He focuses his two hours teaching on word recognition and understanding of their meanings.

Pastor has come to the end of that adult class in the reo and also in the akatangi pe’e or recitation of the traditional songs. He will run the next session soon and will take his class on a fishing session on a good arapo for lagoon or reef fishing.
